MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Death sentences were handed down on Saturday to two women who allegedly killed a child in northern Balkh province, an official said.
Nasima and Latifa were sentenced to death at an open train by the primary urban court in Mazar-i-Sharif on charges of killing Ali Sena, an eight years old child.
Judge Mohammad Sadiq Fayyaz said the women were arrested by security personnel in early April when they were trying to hide the child’s dead body.
The convicts avoided speaking to the media, but Ghulam Abbas -- the victim’s father -- hailed the court decision, saying such criminals should be sentenced to death.
