MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): The High Office of Oversight and Anti-corruption (HOOAC) head on Monday said graft could be eliminated only when there was coordination between prosecutors and law-enforcement agencies.
Azizullah Ludin told a press conference in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, the campaign against administrative corruption could not succeed until relevant laws were implemented.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (APN): Tribal elders from the northern zone met held a traditional assembly in Mazar-i-Sharif to discuss possible problems in the lead-up to next year’s presidential and provincial council elections.
Arranged by the People’s Traditional Reform Jirga, the gathering was attended by elders, influential figures and youth from Balkh, Faryab, Sar-i-Pul and Jawzjan provinces. The participants asked the government to pay due attention to election security.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Construction work on a railroad connecting Afghanistan with neighbouring Turkmenistan has been launched and it would take two years to complete, the public works minister said on Sunday.
Najibullah Awzhan said construction of the 330-kilomentre railway track had been started from the Kaldar district of Balkh province and would pass through Shiberghan city of Jawzjan until it reached Turkmenistan through the Aqina dry port in Faryab province.

1 – Rabia Balkhi Radio:
The Rabia Balkhi Radio station is established by Mobina Khair Andish in northern Balkh Province in 2003. The radio channel covers 80 kilometers area of the province and relays programs for 18-long hours. It is a first radio station that is launched by a female. Rabia Balkh Radio is financed by legal and commercial companies and has 23 employees.

1 – Mazar-i-Sharif City:
Having substantial political, historical, cultural, and commercial values, the widely known Mazar-i-Sharif is a developed city that occupies an immense geo-strategic importance in the north of the country. The city has the credit of having the shrine of Hazrat-i-Ali (RA), which contributes to the beauty and importance of the city. Mazar-i-Sharif has 48 square kilometers area.

Maulvi Mohammad Danishjo son of Mohammad Boniad was born in the Kashanda district of northern Balkh province in 1971. He is a fourteen grader and has served as a teacher. He had also worked as employee of rural rehabilitation and development ministry, tribal elder, founder of Balkh Ulema Council and foreign relation officer of the relevant Council. Being a member of Jamiat-i-Islami party, Danishjo has taken part in the Jihad against the occupation of Afghanistan by soviet troops.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Security elsewhere in northern Balkh province has been improved as compared to the past, local officials said.
The officials link the improved security situation to the deployment of Afghan Local Police (ALP) to the province, extended cooperation of the people with the police, and efforts of national police force. The province has immense stability now, the officials said, adding that even small scale attacks and other security threats by rebels are encountered by the security forces efficiently.
