MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Women’s representation in the police force is significantly low due to certain social problems, security officials in northern Balkh province acknowledged on Sunday.
There were fewer women in the police force than needed, Col. Abdul Razzaq Qadiri, the deputy police chief for Balkh, told Pajhwok Afghan News during a seminar here.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Germany on Thursday said it would extend necessary support to the peace talks with the Taliban if the insurgents embraced the Afghan constitution and severed ties with Al Qaeda.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Balkh governor Atta Mohammad Noor in Mazar-i-Sharif, German Defence Minister Thomas de Maizière said they supported peace talks with Taliban on certain conditions.

 
7 – Maulvi Mohammad Danishjo:
Elected Senator
Maulvi Mohammad Danishjo son of Mohammad Boniad was born in the Kashanda district of northern Balkh province in 1971. He is a fourteen grader and has served as a teacher. He had also worked as employee of rural rehabilitation and development ministry, tribal elder, founder of Balkh Ulema Council and foreign relation officer of the relevant Council. Being a member of Jamiat-i-Islami party, Danishjo has taken part in the Jihad against the occupation of Afghanistan by soviet troops.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Germany on Sunday formally opened its consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, at a special ceremony attended by senior officials.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, Afghanistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulhai Haider, Transport and Aviation Minister Daud Ali Najafi, Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor and others.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): An American diplomat in the northern Afghanistan on Thursday hoped the Afghans would actively participate in next year’s presidential and provincial council elections.
Peter Kaestner told a news conference in Mazari-Sharif the United States was confident the election would be transparent and inclusive and its outcome would be acceptable to all Afghans.
