1.         Independent Association of Balk Writers:
The Independent Association of Balkh Writers has a focus to promote literary activities since its formation in northern Balkh Province in 1977. Salih Mohammad Khaliq, director of information and culture of Balkh heads the association, which organizes weekly literary meetings. 
2.         Literary Caravan of Maulana Jallaludin Mohammad Balkhi:

Mazar-i-Sharif (PAN): Infrastructure in the Balkh Province has been developed to great extent during the last few years with the implementation of multiple health, education, agriculture projects, and urban development.
Balkh Governor’s Spokesperson Munir Farhad told Pajhwok Afghan News his province witnessed tremendous achievements in terms of rehabilitation and implementation of development projects during the last two years.

Balkh provincial council has 19 members, with five of them have served in the previous council’s tenure too.
The provincial council has appointed the following three figures as members of the council’s administrative board.
Mohammad Ibrahim Khair Andish, head of the council, Zabihullah Kakar, deputy head and Tahira Haqjo as secretary of the council.
1- Rais Abdul Khaliq:

Mazar-e-Sharif (PAN): Confronting with a host of problems, the residents of Balkh complain of rampant corruption in government departments, shortage of irrigation water, massive seasonal floods, and the illegal occupation of public land by influential people. 
A number of farmers of different districts of the province said that in the wake of shortage of water, half of their land goes barren every year.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): The residents of northern Balk province demand of the authorities to expedite work on the uplift projects and bolster the security situation of the province during the upcoming elections.
The current security is satisfactory in the province, they said, fearing however, the security could worsen in the backdrop of the polls.
Hamidullah, a resident of Sholgar District told Pajhwok Afghan News there is beefed up security in the town but the law and order tend to deteriorate during the landmark elections.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (APN): Tribal elders from the northern zone met held a traditional assembly in Mazar-i-Sharif to discuss possible problems in the lead-up to next year’s presidential and provincial council elections.
Arranged by the People’s Traditional Reform Jirga, the gathering was attended by elders, influential figures and youth from Balkh, Faryab, Sar-i-Pul and Jawzjan provinces. The participants asked the government to pay due attention to election security.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): A reconstructed terminal at the Maulana Jalaluddin Balkhi International Airport in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, was inaugurated on Sunday.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, Afghanistan’s Transport and Aviation Minister Daud Ali Najafi, Balkh Governor Atta Mohammad Noor and parliamentarians.

Balkh Governor Atta Muhammad Noor son of Noor Muhammad was born in Balkh provincial capital Mazar-e-Sharif in 1964. He is married and has seven children, five sons and two daughters. 
He completed his secondary education in Qazi Hamiduddin School in Mazar-e-Sharif and in 2004 graduated from Bakhter High School there.
