KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Infuriated Afghan traders who had suffered heavy losses as their imported cargoes remained stuck at Karachi Port for months are opting for alternative transit routes -- namely via Heart and Nimroz provinces.
Besides halting the NATO’s logistic route after a dispute with the United States, Pakistan is also holding large number of containers of imported products at Karachi Port for almost seven months.

 
KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Roads measuring 40 kilometres were built in southern Kandahar City since last year, but nearly 300-km roads still need to be paved, the mayor said on Sunday.
Mohammad Omar Omar told Pajhwok Afghan News during an exclusive interview the city population had reached 1.5 million individuals and the number of police districts increased to 15 from 10.

 
KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Residents of southern Kandahar province say they agree with a recent Transparency International survey that singled out judiciary as the most corrupt public institution in Afghanistan.
But on Saturday, the Supreme Court hit back at the global watchdog that said the Afghan judiciary and police received larger amounts of bribes than any other institutions.

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): An Afghan soldier, who recently attacked foreign troops at the Kandahar Airfield, has escaped from prison in the southern province, officials said on Monday.
“The soldier, Lambar Khan, escaped from the detention centre with the support of another soldier,” Gen. Abdul Hamid, the 205th Military Corps commander, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News.
