CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): Though some progress has been achieved to promote the education in the volatile Ghor, grave nature of challenges including militants opposing the vital sector in the province have yet to be tackled.
Education department officials said there were more than 780 schools in Ghor with 180 of them are female, 15 co-education and rests are male schools. As many as 20, 0000 including 70,000 female students were being imparted education by 4,400 teachers.

CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): Three big rivers flow through the province but authorities miserably failed to construct water reservoirs in Ghor province where 90% of its economy depends on agriculture and livestock.
In addition, weaving carpets by women folk as well as trade and commerce are other economic activities flourish in the province.

The residents of Ghor fulfill their economic needs from Herat province as their roads were in dilapidated conditions.

CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): Three election officials were injured when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in western Ghor province, an official said on Monday.

CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): The residents of Ghor province say they are even deprived of basic necessities of life and facing multi-faceted problems.
The dilapidated condition of roads with special reference Ghor- Herat and Ghor-Bamyan highways, nonexistence of electricity, limited health facilities and influence of war lords in the province have made lives of the people miserable, he added.
Mulla Abdul Karim, a resident of Chaghcharan told Pajhwok Afghan News the existence of problems in the province made everyone confused.

KABUL (PAN): People of the volatile Ghor demand early construction of roads and highways, supply of electricity and development of the vital education sector in the province.
Muhammad Ibrahim 29, hailing from the Ghor province said the major demand of the people of his province was construction of highways and roads.
Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, he said government officials had been talking to pave Ghor- Maidan city and Ghor- Herat roads but no practical steps could be taken to address the long standing demand of the people.

The eastern Ghor is considered among the backward provinces of the country. It has 14 provincial council members with four of them are female members.

Its transmissions can be received in provincial capital Chaghcharan and its surroundings. It has ten employees headed by Ali Zafar Tahiri.
