FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): About 400 educated youth remain unemployed in western Ghor province, warning they would have no choice but to swell the ranks of insurgents or smugglers if their plight is not mitigated.
Unemployment has been the major challenge to Afghan you -- a huge part of the population. The educated youth have suffered the most because of rampant corruption in governmental departments and a fragile economy.

Situated in western part of the country, Ghor province is surrounded by Herat, Daikundi, Faryab, Farah and Jawzjan provinces.
No official survey has been conducted so far to estimate the volume of natural resources in the mountainous province, but local officials and residents believe huge deposits of metallic and non-metallic minerals are available in Ghor.

FEROZKOH/MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Heavy snowfalls blocked roads in many districts of Ghor and Faryab provinces causing a sharp rise in prices of food items and other commodities, officials said on Tuesday.
Eng. Khalil Noor, director public works department in western Ghor, said the snowfall started Monday morning, disconnecting roads between Tolak, Dawlina, Shahrak, Saghar, Teora and Pasaband districts with the provincial capital.

FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): A recent survey shows corruption has drastically increased in some government departments of western Ghor province.
Conducted by a strategic planning team, the survey carried out in Firozkoh, the provincial capital, Lal wa Sarjangal, Dawlat Yar and Dolina districts took 45 days to complete. It ranks Ghor first in administrative corruption.
Representatives from the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), civil society groups, provincial councils and local councils took part in the survey as part of the team.
