FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): In the dead of night, students in Ferozkoh -- the capital of Ghor province -- pour onto the streets to make use of solar lights for homework and exercise.  They make use of the lights available and enjoy the still of the night.
Despite three major rivers -- Farahrod, Harirod and Murghab -- flowing through Ferozkoh, the city of almost 20,000 people remains deprived of the basic facility called electricity.

FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): The provincial council in western Ghor province says their findings show rampant corruption in some of local departments, stressing for a comprehensive plan to tackle the menace of corruption.
More than 60 candidates run for provincial elections in Ghor, out of which only 15, including three women could secure seats.
The provincial council head says since they started work, they have evaluated the performance of 22 non-governmental organizations and major departments of health, education and rural development departments were rife with corruption.

FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): Seven security officials, 120 rebels have been killed and 30 more wounded in severe clashes in the Charsada and Pasaband districts of western Ghor province, an official said on Saturday.
Governor Syed Anwar Rahmati said Taliban were planning to control the two strategic districts in order to have access to the north of the country but security forces stopped their advancements and repulsed them.

FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): Twenty insurgents, four security forces personnel and a civilian were killed following heavy clashes in Charsada district of western Ghor province, officials said Monday.
Fazal Haq Ehsan, head of provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News clashes erupted after insurgents stormed security check posts on Sunday afternoon. He added clashes were still ongoing.
