PUL-I-KHUMRY (Pajhwok): The residents of northern Baghlan province on Thursday urged new president should help eliminate foreign meddling in country’s affairs and bolster security and law and order.
The first round of the presidential election was held on April 5 and the runoff on June 14, but the process is yet to be finalised, causing economic problems and insecurity in the country.
People urged the next head of state to tackle problems being faced by masses and put the country on path to development, prosperity and stability.

 
PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): The Kabul-North highway that was blocked by protestors earlier in the day was later reopened for traffic, an official said on Wednesday. 
Hundreds of people took to the streets in support of the Reform and Unanimity team, led by Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, in Pul-i-Khumri, the capital of northern Baghlan province.

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): A resident of the Jalgai district in northern Baghlan province has accused police and government officials of cutting off his middle finger two days after he cast his vote for Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
Mohammad Dad told Pajhwok Afghan News he was on his way home on Sunday when three policemen and as many government officials attacked him.

BAGHLAN (Pajhwok): Ballot process formally started at 7:00 am on Saturday throughout the country.
Long queues of voters are seen waiting for their turn in the Baghlan provinces.
According to IEC, around 12 million eligible voters would exercise their right to vote in 6,365 polling stations. At least 400,000 security personnel had been deployed to ensure stringent security measures for the ballot.
For the last several elections, 21 million people in the country obtained their voter cards, with four million of them obtained voter cards in this election.

PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Police said on Monday at least 60 polling centres set up for the June 14 presidential election runoff faced high security threats in northern Baghlan province.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News that 25 of 58 polling centres were under high security threat and 33 sites under average threat.
He said polling sites considred under high security threat were located in Pul-i-Hisar, Tala-Wa-Barfak, Barka and Baghlan-i-Markazi districts.
