PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Two senior police officials have been suspended in northern Baghlan province for negligence in duty and committing fraud during Saturday’s elections, the authorities said on Sunday.
Police Chief Gen., Aminullah Amarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News that Mudabbir Safi, the administration affairs head at Balkh police headquarters, and Col. Qudratullah, the police chief for Baghlan-i-Markazi district, had been suspended.

KABUL/PUL-E-KHUMRI/BAMYAN (Pajhwok): Bombing blasts in the capital Kabul, central Bamyan, northern Parwan and Baghlan provinces occurred close to polling stations but caused no casualties, officials said Saturday.
A mine was placed in a trash which exploded on 7: 30am near Hazrat Zaid High School in Pul-e-Khumri City where voters were coming to cast their ballot.
A voter Malali Rasouli said the bomb went off “when I have my turn to vote. People ran pell-mell after the blast.”

 
PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Addressing a campaign rally, presidential runner Dr. Zalmai Rassoul on Monday said implementing development projects in northern Baghlan province was among his primary objectives if he won the April elections.
Accompanied by his two running mates and President Hamid Karzai’s brother Mahmoud Karzai, Rassoul told the gathering he would root out administrative corruption if succeeded in the presidential race.

 
KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential runner Dr Abdullah Abdullah on Saturday addressed a campaign rally in northern Baghlan province, explaining his future plans for the country.
Abdullah, who arrived in Pul-i-Khumri along with his running mates, addressed thousands of people in the provincial capital. He promised giving special attention to Baghlan in his future development programmes.
The former foreign minister said he would attract investments to the mining sector and improve Baghlan residents’ access to electricity if he won the April 5 elections.
