Daughter of Abdul Qader, Dr. Parween Nuristani is born in 1975 in the Waygal District of Nuristan Province. Nuristani graduated in 1990 from Abu UlQasem Ferdosi High School in Kabul. She received her bachelor degree in Medicine from Kabul Medical University in 2010. From 1996 to 2001, Nuristani taught at the Waygal School in Nuristan. From 2002 to 2008, she studied at the Kabul Medical University while simultaneously working with the Department of Women’s Affairs in Nuristan. After graduation, she worked in various Nuristani hospitals for two years before campaigning for parliament. Her mother language is Nuristani but she speaks English as well.

Maulawi Ahmadullah Mujahid (Mowahed) is the son of Alhaj Mia Gul, and is born in 1971 in the Waygal District of Nuristan Province. Mujahid completed his primary education in his native village and his secondary education at Ibn-e Sina High School in Peshawar. He received his bachelor degree in Islamic Education from Jamiat Ul-Islamia University in Pakistan in 1995. From 1996 to 1998, Mujahid taught at the Ibn-e Sina High School. From 1998 to 1999, he supervised the Beljim Educational Organization in Nuristan. He then joined a Swedish NGO working in Nuristan through 2001, after that he became the education manager in Nuristan for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) until 2004. He became an international trainer with the Mission d’Aide au Développement des Economies Rurales (MADERA) in 2004 to 05. Following this, Mujahid worked with the Afghan- German Education Organization from 2006 to 2008. He is the chair of the Mahir Construction Company, which has projects across Nuristan Province. Mujahid speaks Nuristani, Dari, Pashto, Urdu, Arabic, and English.
