KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Wednesday said it would announce preliminary result of the presidential election a week later than originally scheduled citing some technical problems.
The presidential election was held on September 28 and the primary results were scheduled for October 19 and final result on November 7.
However, Zabihullah Sadat, IEC acting spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News on Wednesday that the primary result would not be announced on the scheduled date due to some technical problems in the process.
“The election result would probably be announced five days or a week later from the scheduled date,” he said.
Around 2.7 million people participated in the presidential election. Two days back, the IEC said that the data of 1.7 million voters had so far entered into the central system.
