KABUL (Pajhwok): Independent Election Commission (IEC) commissioner Maulana Abdullah on Tuesday alleged that appointments in the electoral body were being made on ethnic and linguistic lines.
Abdullah told reporters in Kabul linguistic and issues related to ethnicity were considered in appointing IEC workers and that illegal individuals held high posts at the IEC Secretariat. “These individuals are appointed illegally,” he said.
Earlier, Abdullah claimed some circles around President Ashraf Ghani created hurdles in appointments at the IEC.
He said some individuals who qualified through a transparent manner faced delay in getting their jobs from the Presidential Palace.
He also claimed some suggestions from the IEC had not been dispatched to the Presidential Palace.
