KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) late on Monday announced the results of the October 21 Wolesi Jirga elections from Balkh, Logar, Paktika, Badakhshan and Faryab provinces.
Addressing reporters in KabulIEC chief Abdul Badi Sayyad said candidates Ghulam Mohammad Abbas Ibrahimzada, Abdul Hameed Sharifi, Ahmad Shah Ramazan, Mohammad Ali Mohaqiq, Mualem Khan Azadi, Syed Zahir Shah Masrour, Raees Abdul Khaleq, Gul Rahman Hamdard, Saifurai Niyazi, Fawzia Hameedi and Breshana Rabai have grabbed the majority votes in Balkh province according to the primary results.
He said from Logar, Mohammad Ismael Sediqui, Wafullah Eftikhar, Eng. Mohammad Asif Nabizai and Huma Ahmadi were leading candidates.
Mohammad Merza Katawazai, Mohammad Daud Katawazai, Nader Khan Katawazai and Hela Mujtaba won most of the votes in Paktika provinces.
From Badakhshah, the IEC head said Abdul Rauf Enami, Abdul Shakour Waqif Hakemi, Hujatullah Kheradmand, Abdul Wali Niyazi, Mualvi Zabihullah Atiq, Zalmai Mujadidi, Dr. Ahmad Zia Yaftali, Nelofar Ibrahimi and Sadiqa Adeb collected the majority votes.
From Faryab province, Hashmatullah Arman, Rasoul Faryabi, Mohammad Hashim Khan, Syed Babar Jamal, Sanjar Kargar, Mohammad Anwar Basheleq, Rangeni Kargar, Shafiqi Sakha Yolichi and Fauzia Raufi secured most of the votes.
Sayyad said the results he announced were primary and if there were any objections, they could be referred to the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC).
He added some complaints regarding Balkh elections existed and the two commissions would jointly address these complaints before the final results.
