IEC finds no rigging evidence in Khost

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission in southeastern Khost province has found no evidence of rigging after recounting 10 percent of votes, officials said on Wednesday.
Khanzada Afghani, the IECC provincial chief, told a press conference that votes cast at eight polling stations had been tallied again accordance with directions from the head office.
He said only 20 votes cast for Ashraf Ghani, which were unlawfully nullified by polling station staff, had been added to the candidate’s tally.
Khanzada informed a total of 57 complaints had been registered, 37 against Ashraf Ghani, three against Abdullah and the rest against security forces.
Members of civil society, independent observers from FEFA and members of Ashraf Ghani’s team were present at the news conference.
Another IECC official Faizullah Ghamkhor said representatives of Abdullah’s team had been invited but they did not show up.
Abdullah has alleged massive rigging in Khost, an accusation dismissed by his opponents.
