Voter registration speeds up in Faryab

MAIMANA (Pajhwok): The voter registration process has accelerated in northern Faryab province, with more and more people applying for the cards in the backdrop of the ongoing electioneering, an official said Saturday.
Over 180 persons daily visit the registration office to get voter cards, said Syed Masoom Masoomi, the provincial Independent Election Commission (IEC) office head.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News the number of people receiving voter registration cards had increased after the launch of the presidential campaign on Feb. 2.
So far 110,000 people, 37 percent of them females, had received voter cards since the registration began, he added.
A resident of the first district of Maimana told Pajhwok Afghan News she would cast her vote in favour of a candidate, who could help resolve poverty and unemployment problems.
