KABUL (PAN): The Wolesi Jirga has started the trust vote process for members of the new cabinet of President Hamid Karzai on Saturday morning. The Wolesi Jirga has devised a new process for the voting to ensure transparency this time. Under the new process, 25 booklets are showing the names of the ministers-designate. At the end of each booklet, there are vacant spaces where the Wolesi Jirga members have to mark with a tick whether they approve a minister or not. Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga told the parliamentarians before the launch of the voting that if both the spaces were left vacant, or both were marked with a tick, the vote would be declared null and void. Two ballot boxes have been placed at a corner of the Jirga hall to avoid rush during the voting process. The members are getting the booklets, marking the same and then placing the booklet in one of the boxes. The Karzai's cabinet has 24 ministers. However, the minister-designate for the refugees and disabled has not been passed by the Wolesi Jirga. In the same token, President Karzai has yet to nominate a minister for the key portfolio of foreign affairs. dk
