KABUL (PAN): Gulam Sarwar Danish, President Hamid Karzai's nominee for the justice portfolio, has said the elimination of corruption from government departments and peoples' access to speedy justice would be the top priority of his ministry in the coming five years. Seeking a vote of confidence from Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of parliament on Monday, Danish informed the house about the achievements of his ministry over the past five years and future plans. He said his ministry would struggle to banish corruption by introducing reforms. "It would be the top most priority of the government to prevent corrupt practices," he vowed. He said his ministry would introduce administrative reforms to discourage the menace of widespread graft. Danish said his ministry would make efforts to enhance the capacity of judicial organs, training to officials and construction of new buildings for justice departments in provinces and the centre. He also rejected claims about his dual nationality, saying he does not need nationality of other countries. frm/ma
