KABUL (PAN):  Six presidential candidates on Tuesday asked Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) to thoroughly investigate into hundreds of cases of fraud in the presidential and provincial council elections held on August 20.

KABUL (PAN): Presidential candidate Dr. Abdullah Abdullah Sunday alleged brazen irregularities in presidential elections and warned they could affect the outcome.

QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A commander representing a provincial council candidate overpowered election workers at two polling stations in northwestern Badghis province and took ballot boxes to his home, said head of Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday.

KABUL (PAN): Free and fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan (FEFA) head Nader Nadery revealed on Saturday Taliban insurgents chopped off index fingers of two voters on Election Day in southern Kandahar province.


At a press conference here, Nadery claimed a FEFA observer saw the insurgents cut off the ink-coloured index fingers of two voters for disregarding their warnings against participation in the presidential and provincial council polls.

KHOST CITY (PAN): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) regional chief has blamed police for stopping them from counting votes cast for presidential and provincial candidates in Thursday's polls.

SHARAN (PAN): Men voters in some districts and capital city of the southeastern Paktika province were allowed to cast ballots on behalf of their female family members for lack of separate arrangements, voters said Thursday.

Pajhwok Afghan News rejects the order of the National Security Council, released by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, which forbids coverage or prediction of violence during tomorrow's election.


 


Such orders have no basis in the Afghan Constitution or the principles of democracy.

GARDEZ (PAN): Police in southeastern Paktia province have arrested 10 people on the charges of distributing night letters, an official said on Wednesday.

GARDEZ (PAN): Dwellers of some districts of southeastern Paktia province may not participate in Thursdays presidential and provincial council elections due to death threats from insurgents.

KABUL (PAN): Supporters of President Hamid Karzai's key challenger Dr. Abdullah Abdullah have been arrested for air-dropping pamphlets from two helicopters in a prohibited area of Kabul, the Defence Ministry said on Monday.
