QALA-I-NAW (PAN): A commander representing a provincial council candidate overpowered election workers at two polling stations in northwestern Badghis province and took ballot boxes to his home, said head of Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Sunday.

Syed Alam Ishaqzai told Pajhwok Afghan News commander Ziauddin, campaigning for a PC candidate Maulvi Mohammad Ibrahim, beat the workers of two polling stations in Zegi village of Aab Kamri district and two took ballot boxes to his home and filled them.

He added the commander tampered with 60 votes of another candidate Mohammad Rangin Mashkwani and with 14 votes of Nafas Gul.  Ishaqzai said they had quarantined the two ballot boxes.
