GARDEZ (PAN): Police in southeastern Paktia province have arrested 10 people on the charges of distributing night letters, an official said on Wednesday.

Police chief Brigadier General Aziz Ahmad Wardak told Pajhwok Afghan News four people were arrested in Ahmadabad district and another six in Gardez where they were spreading night letters.

The night letters say, "the election is an American project and people should not participate in it, otherwise they would be targeted by Taliban." Wardak said some explosives were also seized form the detainees.

Meanwhile, Taliban attacked a border police check-post form across the border in Patan district on Wednesday.

A police official, Mirza Gul Abakhel, said two policemen were seriously injured during the 90-minute clash. He added one of the injured policemen later died of his wounds in a hospital in Samkani district.

Patan district borders the Kurram tribal region of Pakistan.
