FARAH (Pajhwok): Ballot boxes of 36 polling centres had been quarantined in western Farah province, officials said on Saturday. 
Dr. Ali Ahmad Nazhat Yar, provincial Independent Election Commission (IEC) head, said 29 of the 36 voting centres were located in Purchaman district while the rests in Khak-i-Safid, Pusht-i-Road districts and the provincial capital.

 
NILI (Pajhwok): A provincial council candidate was fined 50,000 afghanis on charge of committing fraud in the April 5 elections in southwestern Daikundi province, an official said Thursday.
Mir Hussain Nazari, provincial Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) spokesman, said that Mohammad Zahir, a provincial council candidate, was fined on charge of copying and removing other candidates’ names from ballot papers.
He said fake ballot papers were distributed among his supporters to project that other candidates were disqualified.

 
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Some ballot boxes have been found faulty after being interfered with by some warlords and their votes are likely to be declared invalid in northern Balkh province, an official said on Tuesday.
The Independent Election Commission and the Electoral Complaints Commission have been recounting votes of quarantined ballot boxes over the past few days in Balkh following complaints of fraud.  

 
MAHMUD RAQI (Pajhwok): Votes cast at two sites in the Tagab district of central Kapisa province have been invalidated in light of complaints investigated, an official said on Tuesday.
Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) commissioner in Kapisa Qudratullah Javed told Pajhwok Afghan News the sites were in Joyeebar area of the district.
He said they had received and investigated 44 electoral fraud cases and the votes polled at the two stations were declared void on the basis of documented evidence.

 
KABUL (Pajhwok): Reacting to the release of partial returns from last weekends’ presidential vote, hopeful Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai on Sunday said “the game is not over.”
Ahmadzai was shown closely chasing his rival candidate Abdullah Abdullah in the partial official results based on the 10 percent votes counted in 26 provinces.
The early results were announced earlier in the day by the Independent Election Commission, which cautioned the results were not final and could change in future because serious incidents of fraud could affect the final outcome.

 
MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): Around 20,000 of the 100,000 votes cast during the April 5 elections in central Maidan Wardak province were likely to be thrown out, pending a probe into complaints, an Independent Election Commission (IEC) official said on Sunday.

 
KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential runner Muhammad Shafiq Gul Agha Sherzai on Sunday said that findings of his team showed instances of widespread corruption in April, 5 presidential and provincial council polls.
Speaking at a news conference in Kabul, Sherzai said his team would wait until the Independent Electoral Complaint Commission (IECC) made public its decision over the alleged fraud related complaints.
He rejected the remarks by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials that the last Saturday election was not as much fraudulent as of the 2009 ballot. 

 
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission on Sunday said it had recorded a total of 870 incidents of fraud classed as "Priority A", complaints considered serious enough to affect the outcome of the April 5 elections.
IECC spokesman Nadir Muhseni told reporters in Kabul they had registered 3,274 complaints so far from across the country and 1,892 of them had documents in support.
He said might expand the timeframe to review the high number of complaints accurately in provinces.

 
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Journalists and civil society activists in southern Helmand province on Saturday said fraud attempts in the April, 5 elections would plunge the country into crisis and chaos.
University lecturers, journalists and members of civil society institutions expressed these views in a gathering in Lashkargah City, the provincial capital.
They asked the electoral commissions to remain neutral and demonstrate transparency in announcing results of presidential and provincial council elections.

 
GARDEZ (Pajhwok): The election watchdog on Saturday said it would be unable to review complaints about electoral fraud in southeastern Paktia province due to a lack of cooperation from the Independent Election Commission (IEC).
