Sherzai alleges massive fraud in elections

KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential runner Muhammad Shafiq Gul Agha Sherzai on Sunday said that findings of his team showed instances of widespread corruption in April, 5 presidential and provincial council polls.
Speaking at a news conference in Kabul, Sherzai said his team would wait until the Independent Electoral Complaint Commission (IECC) made public its decision over the alleged fraud related complaints.
He rejected the remarks by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials that the last Saturday election was not as much fraudulent as of the 2009 ballot.
In the past polls, massive fraud was reported in favour of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and President Hamid Karzai, while many government officials and commanders in various provinces in this elections step forward against him. But he gave no further details.
The former governor said residents of various provinces, especially Nimroz and Herat who wanted to vote him, confronted with lack of ballot papers.
