SHIBERGHAN/MAHMUD RAQI (PAN): A large number of people in northern Jawzjan and central Kapisa provinces supported the August 20 presidential polls but voiced aversion to a run-off election.

KABUL (PAN): Around 420 of 3,300 provincial council candidates have been declared winners in last month's elections, an Independent Election Commission (IEC) official said here on Sunday.

WASHINGTON (PAN): Obama's Administration Tuesday indicated it would hold on the new Afghan policy until a new government takes over in Kabul, while one of its top officials said the White House is willing to work with Hamid Karzai, if he is declared reelected.

KABUL (PAN): The final results from the August 20 presidential polls show that President Hamid Karzai had won leading position in 21, his close rival Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in 11 and Dr. Ramzan Bashardost in one province.

KABUL (PAN): The new Afghan government will face a serious work to stabilize the situation in the country with support of International Community and central coordinating role of the United Nations, Russia said on Saturday.

KABUL (PAN): Independent presidential candidate Ramazan Bashardost has filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office asking for a trial of the European Union election observers.
