KABUL (PAN): The new Afghan government will face a serious work to stabilize the situation in the country with support of International Community and central coordinating role of the United Nations, Russia said on Saturday.



"We are looking forward to all the necessary procedures be completed as soon as possible that will allow to form efficiently the new Afghan government," the Russian embassy in Kabul said in a statement.


Despite attempts of some extremists forces to break down Afghan peoples will, the polls were successfully finished. "It undeniably proves that the Afghan people have confirmed their adherence to the establishment of a strong, independent and democratic Afghanistan," added the statement.


"We wish the Afghan leadership and people of Afghanistan success in further stabilization of the situation in the country, social and economic reconstruction and development; rise of well-being of its citizens. We call all the patriotic forces of Afghanistan for solid and fruitful activities in the name of future prosperity of their motherland."


Russia will continue its contribution to these efforts. "We confirm our readiness for further active collaboration with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in political, economic and humanitarian fields as well as in fight against terrorism and drug crime."


The final official results of the August 20 polls will be announced after verifying part of the bulletins by the Election Complain Commission.


According to the IEC information, the current President Hamid Karzai is leading with a broad margin and has a good chance to be reelected.
