JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The governor on Wednesday said he would try to increase coordination among donor agencies and government organisations in implementation of projects in eastern Nangarhar province.
Salim Khan Kunduzi was talking to UN Habitat officials during a meeting at the governor’s house, where they signed two projects worth around $400 million.
The UN Habitat would reconstruct pavements around the city and Qassam Abad Township besides constructing streets, culverts and cleaning irrigation canals as part of the projects.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Former provincial council secretary of eastern Nangarhar province shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Ghani Khail district of the province, an official said Wednesday.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Moin Shah who was also a religious scholar was on his way in his car from Jalalabad City, the provincial capital, to his home when he came under attack by armed men in Marku area of the district on Tuesday evening.

CHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A Qatar funded Red Crecesent (RC) organization distributed aid and assistance among 1,000 vulnerable families in southern Ghazni province, en employee of RC said on Tuesday.
Samiullah Sadiqi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the RC initially conducted survey and prepared a list of 1,000 poverty-stricken families.

TRINIKOT (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen shot dead director of education of Chura district in central Uruzgan province inside a mosque, the governor spokesman said on Tuesday.
Dost Mohammad Nayab told Pajhwok Afghan News gunmen forced their way inside a mosque and shot Momin, director education, dead when he was offering Tarawih prayers.
The official died on the spot, he said, adding that the attackers fled the scene. Police had started investigations to nab the culprits.

ZARANJ/ (Pajhwok): Former provincial council head of southwestern Nimroz province survived a gun attack that left one of his bodyguards dead, an official said on Tuesday.
A security official in Nimroz wishing anonymity said a group of armed men stormed the house of Najibullah Naser in Zaranj City, the provincial capital, on Monday night.
He said that a body of the former provincial council head died in the incident.
Provincial council secretary Niamatullah Sadiqi said a group of six armed motorcyclists attacked the house of Naser last night at around 9:00pm.

FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): “Following her death, my life has become very bitter and my mind extremely vacuous. I don’t know whether I should eke out a living for my family using a handcart or sit at home to look after my children.”
Khair Mohammad, whose house is located just three kilometres from the civil hospital in the provincial capital, lost his spouse on the way to the medical facility. Expecting a baby, the woman died of excessive bleeding.
