CHARIKAR (PAN): Parwan Governor said there was dire need to launch more rehabilitation projects in some areas of the province, adding provincial authorities had completed development projects worth $700 million in the region.
 
In his chat with Pajhwok Afghan News, Parwan Governor Abdul Saboor Salangi said a decade ago, most of the schools had no buildings but buildings for 210 schools had been completed including other projects during the rehabilitation process.
 
He informed multiple roads projects have been completed linking provincial capital with districts and villages, adding the construction of 100 kilometers road in Ghorband was a mega project and an example of his government resolve to develop the province.
 
Salangi said residents of Charikar and other districts were provided with electricity, a facilities that they were kept deprived for years.
 
The remaining parts of the province would soon get electricity and work was in progress in that connection, he remarked.
 
He informed that several rehabilitation projects have been completed through National Solidarity Program (NSP) in Parwan.
 
He went on to say many projects of health sector have been completed with construction of as many as 62 health centers in the provincial capital and far-flung districts. He said most of the hospitals were provided with 40 ambulances, which provide health services at times of dire need to the people.
 
He informed budget for the 200 bed hospital in Parwan had been allocated and the construction work would start soon.
 
The governor said $1 million have been allocated for the formers community of the province in an apparent attempt to discouarge the cultivation of opium and other campaign against the elimination of drugs.  
 
He said rehabilitation projects worth $11 including the Salang tunnel were allocated with construction work on the tunnel would kick off soon. He said funds for the purpose were provided by the foreign forces.
 
“Construction of seven bridges and a public clinic have been completed in Salang district and the projects cost  $1 million,” the governor added.
 
Abdul Khalil Muqsit, Salang district chief officer said residents of the districts were in dire need of construction of bridges, which would go a long way to address their main problems.
 
Parwan provincial council members acknowledged provincial authorities worked hard to implement rehabilitation projects, adding, however, much more was needed to be done to develop the province.
 
Abud Zahir Salangi, provincial council assistant while expressing dissatisfaction over the rehabilitation work said the province witnessed completeion of 60% rehabilitation projects, adding most of the schools have no buildings and most of the localities were still deprived of electricity.
 
He went on to say despite enormous problems a large number of people were deprived of drinking water in the province.  
 
The governor pledged drinking water facilities would be provided in the near future following financial assistance extended by the Indian government.
 
 
Keeping in view multiple problems being faced by the residents because of absence of electricity, the governor assured Jabal Saraj electricity grid station would be inaugurated soon, which would help provide electricity to the remaining parts of the province.
 
Mohammad Zareef, a resident of Charikar city admitted the rehabilitation work completed in the province was a remarkable job but qulity of work had been completely compromised.
 
He said some projects were in dilapidated condition soon after their construction, adding that the sage of corruption and bribes affected the quality of most of the projects. He said the government should launch investitation to identify flaws and take the responsible to taks.
 
 Ahmad Tawab, a resident of Charikar city expressed satisfaction over the rehabilitation projects by saying that things could not be brought in proper order within days.  
Najibullah, another resident of the province said rehabilitation projects were though completed in some parts of the province but the ratio of unemployment continued haunting the youth of the province.
