Sherzai slams misuse of govt resources

GARDEZ/TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Presidential runner Gul Agha Sherzai on Tuesday accused the government of refusing to check the use of state resources in favour of a specific candidate.
“The president, supporting Zalmai Rassoul, has been silent on the use of government resources by certain officials in his favour,” he told a gathering in Gardez, the capital of southeastern Paktia province.
He alleged: “The presidential candidates include individuals who are receiving cash from foreign intelligence networks. They will promote their masters’ interests in case they win the ballot.”
If he won the election, Sherzai promised a five-year plan for the fast-track development of the province.
In central Uruzgan province, Zalmai Rassoul’s supporter Mohammad Nadir Naeem urged a gathering to vote for the ex-foreign minister at the polls.
Naeem said Rassoul had devised a variety of plans that would meet people’s expectations in case he succeeded in the election.
