Son of Haji Yardin, Alhaj Nawab Mangal is born in 1956 in Shato village in the Laja Mangal District of Paktia Province. Mangal graduated from the Harbi Khowanzay Military School in Kabul in 1986. He later took a six-month course in communication and then studied tourism and archeology at the Institute of Kabul in 2005. During the Mujahideen and Taliban times, Mangal worked in private business. From 1989 to 2010, he worked with the Afghan National Army in different provinces. He is ranked as a Colonel in the army and retired in 2010. He heads a group of four companies. His mother language is Pashto but he speaks Russian as well.

Dr. Mujibur Rahman Samkani is the son of Wakil Fazul Rahman Samankai, and is born in 1973 in the Chelsetoon area of Kabul city. Samkani graduated from Abdullah Bin Masoud High School in Hango, Pakistan in 1993. He completed his bachelor degree in surgery at Afghan Medical University in Peshawar in 2001. Samkani worked as a doctor at the Kamal Medical Center and the Al Kuwait Hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan from 2001 to 2004. He then worked at the Samkani Hospital in Paktia Province. From 2009 to 2010, he was an advisor to the governmental Office of Administrative Affairs and active on the Council of Ministers Secretariat. He was selected as the Samkani tribal leader after his father’s demise. Samkani’s father – a former parliament member – was killed in an attack in November 2007. His mother language is Pashto but he speaks English and Urdu.

Daughter of Neik Muhammad, Razia Sadat Mangal is born in 1973 in the Sayed Karam District of Paktia Province. Mangal graduated in 1989 from the Aims High School in Islamabad, Pakistan. She holds a bachelor degree in Accounting and Banking from West Valley College in the United States, in 1996.While living in the United States, Mangal decided to pursue her interest in women’s affairs in Afghanistan. She joined the Development Organization for the Revival of Afghanistan (DORA) in 2000 and became the director of the organization in 2004. She holds the position to date and has undertaken projects for women through the organization. In 1989, Mangal and her family moved to California in the United States, where she worked as a banker at the Bank of America from 1996 to 2000. In 2005, she established the first female-owned construction company in Afghanistan. Mangal speaks Pashto, Dari, Urdu, and English.

Muhammad Ibrahim Ghashtalay is the son of Haji Khan Padshah, and is born in 1980 in Kot Kala village, Sayed Karam District, Paktia Province. His mother language is Pashto but he speaks English as well. Ghashtalay graduated from Hazrat Bilal High School in Hango city, Pakistan in 1992. He got his bachelor degree in Law and Political Science from Kabul University in 2004. Ghashtalay established Pam (“Think”), a cultural organization, in 2007. He served as editor-in-chief for its publication. From 2006 to 2010, Ghashtalay worked as the Human Resources and Capacity Building Manager at the Afghanistan Telecom Regulatory Authority.

Alhaj Gul Padshah Majedi is the son of Haji Zargul. He is born in 1966 in Zazi Aryub District of Paktia Province. Majedi’s mother language is Pashto but he speaks Dari, English, Urdu, and German. Majedi graduated from Noor Muhammad Shah Mina High School in Kabul. He earned his bachelor degree in English Literature at Kabul University, and studied law at the University of Karachi Pakistan. Majedi is a member of foundations working with youth, specifically the Majedi Foundation, of which he is the head after having established in 2011. Majedi runs his own business. He also works as a chairperson of the National Society of the southern zone and as an executive member of Hezb-e-Muhaz Milli Islami party. He is also deputy of the Committee for Paktia Rehabilitation in Germany. He has been the head of the Paktia Construction Organization since 1992. Majedi was elected to parliament in 2005.
