PUl-E-ALAM (PAN): Provincial women affairs department revealed on Tuesday voter registration centres for female did not exist in four district of the central Logar province.
Raisa Shema, head of Logar women affairs department said a large number of women were deprived of getting voter cards in the province.
Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, she said the districts of Azra, Kharwar, Charkh and Baraki Barak had no centres for women voter registration, adding women were deprived of their legitimate right to cast vote.
Basminah, a resident of Baraki Barak district said: “I do not have voter card and I am deprived to cast my vote in the upcoming elections. We are four female in my house but none of us have voter registration cards.”
Jamila, another resident of Charkh district said she was willing to cast her vote but she was disappointed after not getting the voter cards.
Lawlessness, growing insecurity and absence of voter registration cards were the main reason leaving them unable to get the voter cards, she added.
Abdul Rafi Mulakhail, member of provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News male voter registration centres were functioning in districts where female were not allowed to get their voters card.
Half of the districts population was women, which meant half of the population would be deprived of their right to vote, he added.
Farzana Shansab, another member of provincial council, noted absence of women voters would leave negative impact on the total vote bank of a candidate. 
She said her success to provincial council was made possible because of women voters, adding that female were left without getting their voter cards in several districts.
Wahidullah Samsoor, an official of Logar election commission, rejected allegations that women voter registration centres’ were not exists by saying that Baraki Barak was the only district where voter registration centres for women did not exist, adding rests of the districts had the facility for women.
Security and technical problems hampered efforts to open the centres for women in Baraki Barak district, he acknowledged.
A total of 39 candidates, including four women would contest the upcoming provincial council elections in Logar.
