Alam said he was determine to eradicate the culture of nepotism and bribery from his department. "I plan public trials to educate the masses on due legal process, including dispensation of justice and punishments for different offences."
Youth Society President Mohammadullah Himmatyar, who also attended the introduction ceremony for the prosecutor, said administrative corruption remained rampant in the country.
A resident of Sharan, he hoped judicial organs would focus on their core task of ensuring justice and combating graft with an unwavering sense of professionalism.
While supporting the idea of public trials, he urged prosecutors and judges to award deterrent punishments to corrupt elements.
Another resident, Syed Gulab called the judiciary a key state institution tasked with trying different criminal cases. The judicial authorities had to play an important role in curbing corruption, he noted.
