65 rebels killed in Aryub airstrikes

GARDEZ (PAN): Sixty-five insurgents have been killed during airstrikes in the Aryub Zazai district of southeastern Paktia province near the Pakistan border, the Afghan National Army (ANA) said on Monday.
The 203rd Thunder Corps said it conducted the air raids on militant hideouts in the Ruqyan area of the district over the past 24 hours, inflicting heavy casualties on the Taliban.
Elsewhere in the district, 35 rebels were killed when NATO-led troops pounded their bases in Kharachtal and Thande Lagdi areas, a statement from the corps said.
The raids were part of a military offensive aimed to clear the Azra district of central Logar province. Operations have simultaneously been underway in Azra, Hesarak (Nangarhar) and Aryub districts over the past five days.
