ZARANJ (Pajhwok): As women in southwestern Nimroz province took active part in the previous presidential and provincial council elections but their ratio in government offices was abysmally low because of traditional compulsion.
According to local officials, more than 50,000 women who make 40 percent of all voters have participated in the previous election in Nimroz.
Two women had elected as provincial council members while two others as people’s representatives in the Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament.

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Like other provinces, losing provincial council candidates on Wednesday staged a rally in southwestern Nimroz province, accusing the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) of counting invalidated votes as valid at seven polling stations.

The candidates and hundreds of their supporters attended the protest demonstration and gathered in front of the provincial Independent Election Commission (IEC) office. They asked the IEC officials to review their decision on the final result.

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): People of southwestern Nimroz province expressed grave concern over growing insecurity ahead of runoff election slated for June 14, an official said on Tuesday. Mohammad Nadir Baloch, deputy provincial council head, said there were several areas where government had no writ since last 13 years. Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, he said militants have strong presence in Rabat, Chahar Burjak, Diwalak, Khashrud and other districts.
