MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Commander of Afghan Border Police Gen. Mohammad Shafique Fazli on Wednesday said Pakistani forces had intensified rocket attacks on eastern provinces to sabotage the June 14 presidential runoff election.
Gen. Fazli, who introduced a newly-appointed border police commander for the northern zone at a ceremony in Mazar-i-Sharif, said Pakistan was trying to scuttle the runoff vote.

 
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) said on Monday an additional 150 polling sites would open on the voting day in northern Balkh province, where 13 polling stations are under high security threat.

 
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Civil society activists on Sunday held a gathering in the capital of northern Balkh and highlighted the importance of the runoff presidential elections due on June 14.
Organised by the non-governmental organisation “Assistance and Fast Development” in Mazar-i-Sharif, the gathering stressed creation of awareness among the masses about the upcoming ballot.

 
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The US on Tuesday hoped the two frontrunners in the Afghan presidential elections would respect the electoral bodies’ decision on outcome of the looming second round of polls.
Outgoing US civilian representative in northern Afghanistan, Peter Kastner, told a press conference in Mazar-i-Sharif his observation was that security and civilian establishments in the north had been cooperating with each other in rebuilding the country.
