KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The members of provincial council in southeastern Khost province have said that they utilize all resources to build coordination among provincial departments for good governance, implementation of law, and building peace in the area, a statement said on Tuesday.
Provincial council member expressed these views in a monthly meeting with Governor Hukam Khan Habibi where they pledged to leave no stone unturned to resolve problems of people of this strategically important province.

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Mega development schemes should be executed instead of small projects in different districts of southern Kandahar province under the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) -- a flagship uplift plan of the government. 
Provincial Council Chairman Haji Syed Jan Khakrezwal says he has raised the issue at meetings with NSP officials and village council members. He underlined the imperative of deriving maximum benefits from the important programme. 

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The provincial council (PC) chief for southern Helmand province on Sunday accused the mayor of Lashkargah, the provincial capital, and some other municipality officials of corruption and land-grabbing.
Mohammad Karim Atal leveled these allegations at a press conference here, saying corruption and land-grabbing had become a routine practice in the municipality with its officials illegally selling markets, houses and shops.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The mother-child mortality rate has been decreased following surge in the number of female health workers in eastern Nangarhar, director health said on Saturday.
But in insecure and remote areas, the health department was facing with problems due to shortage of female health staff there.
At least 20 female amongst the graduates have completed three years education in the institute and most of the graduates have already been appointed in provincial health facilities.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The provincial council deputy head on Thursday said the Nawzad district fell to the Taliban due to a lack of coordination among security forces in southern Helmand province.
Ibadullah Alizai told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban militants had been attacking the district centre for many days. He warned if security forces did not increase coordination among them, other northern districts would also fall.
He said Taliban militants had grown in strength in Musa Qala and Kajaki districts, posting serious security threats to the two towns.

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Officials on Thursday said that parts of Qalazal district of northeastern Kunduz province have fallen to militants but rebels suffered heavy casualties during the firefight.
The district chief Mahbob Ullah Sayedi told Pajhwok Afghan News hundreds of militants from Chahardara district and Gortapa area launched attacks on Qalazal district.
He said that the fight was continue from the past three days as some parts of the district were fallen to militants.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The governor of eastern Nangarhar has terminated two security officials from duties and cases of three other Torkham scale officials have been referred to Attorney General Office (AGO), an official says on Tuesday.
Ahmda Zia Abdulzai, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the governor took the extreme step after receiving several complaints that police commanders of Achin and Huski districts and three officials of Torkham scale were overstepping their authority.
