د هلمند ولايتي شورا امنيتي ځواکونه پر نه همغږۍ تورن کړل

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The provincial council deputy head on Thursday said the Nawzad district fell to the Taliban due to a lack of coordination among security forces in southern Helmand province.
Ibadullah Alizai told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban militants had been attacking the district centre for many days. He warned if security forces did not increase coordination among them, other northern districts would also fall.
He said Taliban militants had grown in strength in Musa Qala and Kajaki districts, posting serious security threats to the two towns.
Alizai alleged some security officials had committed negligence in their duty and should be removed.
Another member of the provincial council, Abdul Majeed Akhundzada, said only police had been fighting against Taliban insurgents in Nawzad and other northern districts without any support from the Afghan National Army (ANA) and other security forces.
He said police had shown over the past few months that they fought until the last breath and suffered most casualties than any other security organ.
It had been police preventing the Taliban from advancing, he said, adding the policemen fought for 24 hours a day without an opportunity to eat or sleep.
Meshrano Jirga member from Helmand Mohammad Hashim Alokozai also said the ANA did not support police in their two days of fighting against militants in Nawzad.
He said police lacked enough resources including weapons and the military had not been supporting them. He said nine police and seven ANA troops had been killed in the Nawzad clash.
A security official said so far 18 security personnel had suffered casualties during the clashes in Nawzad.
The 215 Maiwand Military Corps in a statement said the Nawzad district had not been captured by Taliban insurgents and security forces had tactically withdrawn.
The statement added 15 militants had been killed in Nawzad. It rejected the provincial council deputy head’s and the lawmaker’s remarks, saying the public representatives wanted to defame the military.
To resolve these problems, officials said, Kandahar police chief Gen. Abdul Raziq had arrived in Helmand.
