Amina/Editor-in-Chief But Amina says that the province, from where she hails, no one knows if the US is leaving or staying. We’ve though disappointed with the international community, the BSA is needed to be inked, which will pave way for holding elections in transparent way.

Ibrahimi in his views says the government needs to send a very clearer message to all and that elections will be conducted at all costs. The countrymen should not accept any postponement of the polls. The ballots should be held even if the weather is worst.

The most important thing is the transparency of the Independent Election Commission. At the provincial level there are many avenues for corruption. Right now in Nangarhar all of the candidates are trying to link themselves to the IEC provincial staff and most campaign funds are going from the candidates to provincial IEC members.

Two or three days before the elections, the IEC should shuffle all the district field coordinators to new districts to prevent fraud.

A decade ago Afghanistan was under serious sanctions of the US and the international community. It was a safe haven for terrorists and Al-Qaeda. But today it is a strong ally of the world community against terrorism and Al-Qaeda. It’s not any more under sanctions, but a strategic partner of the US and major western states. Afghanistan is not yet perfect. But it has come a long way from where it stood in the 1990s.
