Laghman (PAN): People of Laghman province said widespread joblessness and rampant insecurity are among serious problems being faced by the residents. 
Hailing from Dawlat Shah district of the province, Farhad told Pajhwok Afghan News the most serious problem after insecurity is joblessness, which led people to more problems. 
“Most of the youth of my district are jobless. Our unemployed people go to Iran for work where they are killed on their way,” he added.        
He suggested if rehabilitation works are initiated it would help jobless youth starting their work on the one hand while on the other the projects would be completed at the earliest.
“Jobless youth contribute greatly to insecurity. If job opportunities are created then problems can be solved,” he remarked.
Khisru, a resident of Alingar said the shortage of water is another problem alongside the insecurity. He went on to say if the Alingar Shahi canal is built then it would go a long way to irrigate thousands of hectares of land.
Razia Niazi, provincial council member told Pajhwok Afghan News her province urgently need provision of electricity. She said if electricity is provided to the province then it would lead to establishment of more factories. She said construction of Qala Gosh and Watan Goth dams is the most urgent rehabilitation work that needs to be done.
People are fighting with the dual menace of joblessness and insecurity.
Wagma Kalamyar, who hails from Badpekh district said absence of female teachers and shortage of girls’ schools deprive female of getting education.
Wagma urged upon government to construct more girls’ schools and recruit female teachers’ staff, which would boom girls’ education in the province.
Abbasin, a resident of Qarghayio district said people of his locality face immense hardship because parts of Shahidano bridge on Kabul River are damaged. He demanded the government to repair the bridge, which would better connect people of Qarghyio and Badpakh districts.
He said the provincial university faces shortage of masters and PhD lectures.
Naseeb Jan, a resident f Alingar district said most of the people of have no access to health facilities, adding people of far-flung localities are unable to provide their patients with timely medical treatment.
The main problem is that far-flung areas have road problems on the one hand while on the other their patient dies before they shift him/her to hospital.  He said the central hospital of Laghman has lack of facilities and most of the people shift their serious patients to Nangarhar hospital.
Zaifnon Sapi, member parliament from Laghman told Pajhwok Afghan News the biggest problem in the province is the unavailability of airport. He urged upon the central government to take measures to build an airport in Laghman for local and international flights.
Sayed Abbas Sadat, lecturer in Laghman University said construction work of university building is underway but they do not have budget for construction of boundary wall. He urged upon the concerned authorities to release more funds to complete the construction work of the university.
Sarhadi Zwak, Laghman governor spokesman while admitting problems in his province said there is dire need to initiate rehabilitation projects. Badpakh- Mehtar Lam road is in dilapidated condition, and if the road is built then it would minimize problems of thousands of people, he added.
He said most of the government institutions have no proper buildings in the province, which is the main problem being faced by the provincial authorities.
Asadullah, head of education department said though problems of his sector have been resolved to great extent, still most of the schools, institutions and pedagogical institutes have no proper building, which is a matter of great concern.
He urged upon the relevant quarters to help construct buildings for educational institutions without further delay.
