KABUL (Pajhwok): The Wolesi Jirga on Saturday decided to summon the telecommunications and information technology minister to appear before Monday’s session.
Lower house secretary Abdul Rauf Inami told Pajhwok Afghan News the commission of panel heads had included in its agenda to summon Telecommunications and IT Minister Abdul Razaq Wahidi to answer queries from lawmakers about illegal appointments and not appearing before meetings of the house commissions.
A lawmaker from central Maidan Wardak province, Gulam Husain Nasri, said “some government departments have been turned into family entities.”
He said if the issue was not checked, it would widen the gap between the government and the masses.
The lawmaker said some officials overlooked merit and the government should reconsider posting of such officials.
Another public representative from Herat, Monawar Shah Bahadari, said the government should review the appointment of some ministers and provincial governors.
