KABUL (Pajhwok): The Wolesi Jirga on Saturday approved two presidential decrees authorising the departments concerned to make appointments in grade first and second and giving additional salaries from 5,000 to 10,000 afghanis for five academic ranks.
Mohammad Abdohu, who heads the house legislative commission, said articles 10th, 11th, and 12th of the civil services law had been amended in accordance with the presidential decree.
The changes authorised the ministers and director generals concerned to appoint staff in grade first and second, he said.
Previously under Article 10th of the law, first and second ranked officials would be recommended by the board of the administrative reform and civil service commission and authorised representative of the related department and would be by the president.
Out of 131 lawmakers present, 129 voted in favour the decree, he said.
Another presidential decree regarding five academic ranks and their additional salaries ranging from 10,000 afs to 50,000 afs  was approved by 102 out of 131 lawmakers.
