FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Three people, including a leading provincial council runner, have been detained with 300 kilograms of drugs in northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Wednesday.
Javed Waziri, an official of public relations at the police headquarters, said the drugs being smuggled in a police vehicle to Takhar province were recovered in Kishm district of Badakhshan.
The unit the police vehicle has been assigned to could not be verified, he said, adding three men, including provincial council runner Maulvi Abdul Rab had been detained.
But police spokesman Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai rejected police involvement in the incident, saying that it would be premature to comment on the issue. He confirmed Abdul Rab was travelling in the vehicle.
