FIROZKOH (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Complaint Commission (IECC) office in western Ghor province on Tuesday announced quarantining ballot boxes from 11 polling centres and a recount of votes from 12 other sites.
About 63 fraud-related complaints were recorded in Ghor, the provincial IECC head, Anwar Asayee, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said 19 A-category complaints, if found valid, could affect the final results. They have been sent to the main office.
Asayee said Afghan and foreign election observers and representative of political parties, media outlets, civil society organisations and candidates would be present during the complaint adjudication process.
Forty complaints remained unconsidered due to the absence of evidence, he said, adding ballots from 11 polling sites had been quarantined on the basis of a thoroughgoing review of four complaints.
At the same time, Ghor election commission chief, Fazlullah Jalali, said a recount and investigation of 12 polling sites had been conducted in line with directives from the main office.
