21-day election campaign ends tonight

KABUL (Pajhwok): A 21-day election campaign for Saturday’s presidential runoff election ends at midnight, 48 hours before voting day, an official said on Wednesday.
The election law says electioneering must end 48 hours before Election Day. The second round of presidential election pits Abdullah Abdullah against Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai.
During the canvassing period that will come to an end at 12am last night, the two contenders traveled to various provinces to convince people into voting for them in the decisive round.
Although no face-to-face live debate took place between the two hopefuls, they were able to spell out their programmes at various campaign rallies and meetings.
Meanwhile, the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) warned the contenders of legal action if they continued canvassing beyond midnight.
