Women rights protection top priority: Abdullah

KABUL (Pajhwok): Major presidential hopeful Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Thursday lauded women’s participation in the April 5 polls and promised to protect their rights as his top priority if elected in the runoff round.
His reform and unanimity team would practically implement the promises he made during the election campaign.
The presidential hopeful said women were still subjected to different kinds of violence, earning Afghanistan a bad name in the international community.
He acknowledged the women of Afghanistan had many achievements during the past 13 years but not per his expectations. He said his government would introduce new laws ensuring women their safety.
