KABUL (Pajhwok): Amid security concerns, three-week canvassing for the runoff election between Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai would begin on Thursday, an official said on Wednesday.
In line with the law and the commission’s timeline, the presidential candidates could open their campaign from 12 midnight, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) spokesman told reporters in Kabul.
Noor Mohammad Noor hoped both runners would eschew breaking the laws. The campaign will end on June 11 -- 24 hours before polling day.
He acknowledged the provincial and presidential hopefuls had shown respect for IEC laws during their campaign in the last round.
