KABUL (Pajhwok): A possible suicide attack on a presidential campaign rally has been thwarted in Shiberghan, the capital of northern Jawzjan province, the spy service claimed on Friday.
A statement from the National Directorate of Security said the armed opposition planned to use an explosives-laden pick-up in the suicide attack.
More than 300 kilograms of explosives had been placed skillfully in the vehicle that was to be used in the assault, it added. But security official seized the pick-up during a search.
