Floods wreak havoc in Laghman

JALALABAD (PAN): Heavy rainfall that lasted two hours led to devastating floods in the capital and other parts of eastern Laghman province, an official said on Wednesday.
The floods destroyed dozens of homes, swept away several household animals and inundated hundreds of acres of agriculture land, the governor’s spokesman said.
Sarhadi Zwak told Pajhwok Afghan News Governor Dr. Fazlullah Mujaddedi had directed the provincial Natural Disaster Management Committee to urgently assist the affected families.
A resident, Haris, said two people were injured in the floods that hit many parts of the province. He urged the government to dispatch relief supplies to the affected families as soon as possible to mitigate their plight in the holy month of fasting.
