CHAGHCHARAN (PAN): Hundreds of civil society activists on Sunday staged a peaceful rally in western Ghor province, asking the government to sign the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) with the United States.
Around 400 youth and civil society activists took part in the demonstration in front of the provincial council office. The participants urged the government to sign the pact on the residual force that would stay in Afghanistan after 2014.
In a resolution, the protestors said signing the agreement with the world’s sole superpower was in the interest of Afghans.
President Karzai suspended talks with the US on the proposed accord after the Taliban opened their political office in Qatar last month. Officials had earlier said the talks had entered final stages.
