6 projects inaugurated in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (PAN): Six newly-completed projects worth 15 million afghanis were inaugurated by Information and Cultural Minister Syed Makhdom Rahin in southern Ghazni province on Sunday. The projects include a new building for Ghazni Information and Cultural Department and renovated shrines of sufi saints including Syed Ahmad Makahai, Syed Jalal Agha, Turk Hazrat, Baba Ali and Syed Shah Agha. Rahin told the inauguration ceremony the number of development schemes, executed as part of Ghazni's preparations to host the 2013 year as Asian Capital of the Islamic Civilization, had reached 16. He said some pre-Islamic monuments which had damaged as a result of the decades-long war or buried would be dug out or reconstructed soon. The Bala Hisar in old Ghazni city and two minarets there would be reconstructed this year, the minister said, adding hectic efforts were in place to get the city ready to host foreign guests amid special ceremonies marking the event. In response to a question about no airport in Ghazni city and poor security situation, Rahin said foreign guests would be taken to the city by road or air to attend the celebration.
