MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) office in northern Balkh province on Monday said its activities in some districts had come to a standstill due to bad weather conditions.
Izzat Arman, the office head, told Pajhwok Afghan News in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital, that they were concerned about the situation in some districts following heavy rains.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Independent Human Rights Commission (IHRC) on Sunday said 57 percent residents of northern Balkh province were interested the April 5 elections and the remaining 44 called the vote as symbolic, citing a survey.
The survey interviewed 301 individuals, 48 percent of them women, during a month’s period, the IHRC regional office head said.
Syed Mohammad Sami told a meeting that those interviewed included civil society activists, government officials, university lecturers, students and common people.

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The voter registration process has intensified with the launch of electioneering for the provincial council elections in northern Balkh province, an official said on Thursday.
The Independent Election Commission (IEC) official in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital, also accused some provincial council runners of violating rules on the campaign’s first day.

Ahmad Fareed, a resident of Balkh province, said they were satisfied with security in main cities but people living in remote areas were feeling greater sense of insecurity. He said security in remote areas was getting worst by each passing day because the government had weak writ in those remote localities. He criticised the Independent Election Complaint Commission (IECC) for failing to disqualify powerful warlords as provincial council candidates.
